Jeffrey Jenner - Partner

Jeffrey was the founder of the M&A practice which eventually became WTA Partners. He has become a leading practitioner and one with a significant reputation for effectiveness in the mid-market technology space.

Jeffrey has worked successfully completing transactions and advisory work in a dozen countries for numerous private and public client companies. These clients have operated in many market sub-sectors across the TMT spectrum: currently he is particularly active within infrastructure (cloud and managed services, security or reselling) where he leads WTA’s activities, data intelligence as well as software for the public sector Most recent completed transactions include the sale of Oosha to Access Group, the acquisitions of City Business Solutions by CTS and Force Information Systems by Harris Computer Systems.

Before establishing this business, Jeffrey worked almost exclusively in the Information Technology (IT) sector for thirty years of which the majority was spent with leading IT service companies providing systems solutions in most major markets around the world. Jeffrey has held several senior management positions during his career both in the UK and USA including those of CEO, Managing Director and President.

Alan Butterworth - Partner

Alan is an entrepreneurial management professional working within the IT and Technology markets for over 25 years covering the breadth of software products, consulting and outsourcing services. He has held CEO, Managing Director and executive commercial roles for the previous fifteen years before joining WTA, with full responsibility for P&L, strategy, commercial development and operational transformation of multi-million-pound business streams.

He has detailed experience and involvement in business acquisitions, mergers and fundraising working on many of WTA’s client buy and sales mandates including the sales of EP Morris, Transend, Elgin, Ardenta, Union Solutions, Halcyon Software, and working with Civica to help them acquire businesses as part of their portfolio build.

Alan is particularly knowledgeable of the transport and logistics sector, public sector software and hosting & managed Services. Prior to WTA he was most recently Managing Director and a shareholder of Cloud Amber, a software products company providing Integrated Traffic and Transport (ITS) information systems. He exited that business after successfully selling the company to idox plc.

Previously he has held multiple executive and vice president positions with ACIS, a leading transport information software supplier, Intervoice, a speech solutions business and 7C, a contact centre outsourcer. He also spent over twelve years at CMG completing his time there as a Divisional Managing Director. He has a B.Sc (Hons) in Engineering from Manchester University.

NICK NARDI - MANAGING PARTNER, NORTH AMERICA

Nick joined WTA Partners after five years at Harris Computers, an operating company of Constellation Software, Inc, where, most recently, he was a Senior Executive Vice President responsible for the building up the M&A French and UK portfolio for Harris’s Public Services Group. In that role he met with over sixty vertical market software companies and completed three transactions, two in the UK and one in France for a total transaction value of $34 Million. During this time Harris Public Services were a client of WTA Partners and Nick was their senior representative

With over thirty years IT experience spanning four continents Nick has completed transactions up to $25O million and has significant operational and venture capital experience. Previous positions include nine years at Desjardins, the fifth largest cooperative financial group in the world with assets of $227 billion, where he worked on mobile payment systems and venture and buyout financing. He also has over two years experience at Opto Security offering innovative security software for the Transportation and Critical Infrastructure markets.

Outside of IT Nick has been a general manager of a winery in Italy. He is fluent in English, French and Italian and has a B.Sc in Physics and a Major in International marketing from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

Mark Lane - Principal

Prior to becoming a Principal with WTA Partners during October 2017, Mark operated as an independent strategy and M&A advisor to a diverse range of IT sector and private equity clients. He has worked on nearly fifty successfully completed transactions and has extensive experience on the buy-side through originating, negotiating and structuring bolt-on acquisitions. Mark has also developed a proven methodology to assist stakeholders prepare their businesses for quality exits.

Between 2002 and 2010 Mark was a member of the management team tasked with the turnaround (after a public-to-private takeout) of business software vendor Cedar Group. He held roles heading marketing, product strategy/management and M&A and gained valuable experience working with the private equity backer. After several disposals and ten bolt-on acquisitions, the transformed and highly profitable business, rebranded as COA Solutions, secured an excellent exit.

He first started in the IT industry in 1979 as a graduate marketing trainee with Burroughs (now Unisys) where he progressed into senior sales and marketing roles. After four years with Honeywell as head of Strategy & Planning, he moved into strategy consulting in 1989 and secured a blue-chip list of IT sector clients including EDS, ICL, Data General and Walker International.

In 1995 Mark moved into the ERP software industry as PeopleSoft’s European Marketing Director and subsequently became VP International Marketing as the company’s explosive global growth made it a Silicon Valley poster child.

Mark has a BA (Hons) in Economics and an MA from Lancaster University Management School.

Tim Quainton - Principal, Health Tech

Tim is a Health Tech specialist with a lifetime’s experience of IT within clinical environments. Most recently and for eleven years he was with Silverlink Software, a leading provider to the NHS, having been headhunted as COO and later appointed Managing Director. During this time the business made two acquisitions. He left the company in a very strong financial position.

Prior to joining Silverlink and from 2005, Tim was the Project Director for a large UK PLC, leading the delivery on its national contract to deploy PAS and clinical functionality in Ireland.

Throughout his career, Tim has seen the benefit of IT within clinical environments. He commenced his career in Medical Laboratories, qualifying as a Fellow in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and was then became interested in the development and implementation of IT systems. He was heavily involved in the UK’s first MUMPS based pathology system which was then taken on by a number of commercial companies and NHS regional teams. From there he began to focus on IT successfully deploying systems at both a departmental and hospital-wide level. His work has taken him to South Africa, India, Italy, Ireland, Malta and has included multiple large-scale deployments at major London teaching hospitals.
